The Meaning of the Moon
By now, we hope you’ve listened to our debut single, “Supermoon.” If you haven’t yet, that’s ok, you came to the right place! Head over to our Music page to stream it from all of your favorite platforms.
On the surface, it may just seem like a groovy 70’s or 80’s inspired dance number with space inspired elements. Sure, it is that. We’ve got the plucky synth to prove it. But, to us, Supermoon is so much more.
The song begins with someone looking up to the Supermoon and being completely awestruck. The lyrics then go on to describe how much of a guiding light and source of inspiration the moon can be. Tapping into the power of the moon, there is no hesitation or doubt, only clarity and confidence. Look up to the sky, and you will see exactly what you need when you need it. If you want a closer look at our lyrics, see our previous blog post.
Our original intention was for the Supermoon to be a metaphor for finding strength in yourself. Have you ever had a time in your life where you felt off? Off can mean a lot of different things. Maybe you were feeling anxious or depressed. Maybe off was self conscious, irritable or just plain ole hard on yourself. For some, there comes a epiphany or breaking point at some point in that period of darkness where you become your own hero. Your acceptance of yourself leads to a life of authenticity and living like the whole universe is at your finger tips.
For others, this renewed strength might come from another person in your life. You might not be your own Supermoon, but someone who loves you is. They encourage you and look at you like you are a rare astrological event, and that makes you feel seen. It is also possible that some days you are the Supermoon for yourself and other days you need one and have to look up to find it. It might not be a constant state of being, but cyclical instead.
It is our hope that when you listen to Supermoon, you feel powerful. We hope it makes you feel good and we hope it makes you want to dance! As sure as the moon will rise in the night, so too will day come. If you find yourself in the dark, just look for the moon, whatever that means to you. It will guide you until you find your way out.
